Issues can show up as overwhelm, feelings of not coping, anxiety or depression which are very real, there are other signs too.
I was blessed to do this several times recently while on the Outward Bound Trust of New Zealand Wellbeing course, spending time to sit in the stillness as the day dawned and watch the sun came up. Magical.
Easter is nearly upon us, it's a time we tend to enjoy a little something extra in the way of chocolate! By using organic Cacao powder to make these balls, you're getting antioxidants, magnesium, calcium, iron and the feel good factor all wrapped up in a ball! My philosophy is not about deprivation when you're working on a healthier lifestyle, but making better choices (crowd out those not so good ones) making it so much easier.
GF DF V but not taste free!
You're not alone if you're confused by the smoothie and juicing hype and don’t really know why you’d do one over the other. Will this really lead to a healthier life? Or, perhaps you’re wondering what’s the difference? I was recently asked “When you say juicing, do you mean just squeezing the life out of the fruit and veg in a juicer or chopping it up finely in a nutri bullet type thing and drinking all of it? It seems like such a waste throwing out all the pulp.”
Short answer, I do both, depending on how I feel, what appeals at the time, and what I intuitively feel my body needs.
The day was drawing to a close. 2017 was nearly done. I’d walked the tracks in my neighbouring reserve many times before and was out with our dog Jax for my last reserve walk in 2017. I thought I knew all the tracks. I decided to walk further than usual, it was fabulous being out in one of my favourite places in nature. Next minute, Jax dived off down a bank in a different direction to the way we were going. For some reason, I decided to follow her and noticed a path that I didn’t know existed.
It's the time of year when overwhelm can creep up on you. Those words are flying around in your head that "everything has to be done by Christmas (who knows why??!) and you're struggling to cope. Before you know it or realise what’s going on, it happens. You’re constantly tired, there never seems to be enough hours in the day, brain fog has crept in and you can't think straight. Bang!
Halloween has been and gone, it’s got me thinking.............The question I’ve been asking myself this week is, how often do we walk around with a mask on? And why does that matter?
I've recently been working with a client who used to arrive home from work, so tired and wanting to flop on the couch with little energy or desire to prepare that nourishing meal. Feeling guilty about all the “have to dos” with little energy to do it. Not fun. I’m so proud of the work she's put in. She's dug deep and challenged her beliefs about saying no to every request at work when her own workload was already up around her ears.
On Thursday, when technology failed and the world seemed wonky (even our dogs were crazy), I put it down to the full moon. Then this morning I questioned, was I being overly simplistic?
Was there more to what was happening? A YES popped up. Over the past fortnight situations have arisen that have really got me digging deep – and I’ll admit, it hasn’t always been easy.
DF GF V - but certainly not taste free!
Enjoying a plant based gluten free dinner doesn't mean NO to a creamy cheese sauce. Eliminating dairy is a real struggle for many who choose to for varied reasons from health to ethics, there's something about cheese! So here's a solution as my theory isn't about deprivation thinking but adding in better choices; finding options that serve me or the people I work with. I don't tend to measure and always think of it later when the dish turns out well! I love being a free range cook – this is one of the greatest gifts my mum gave me, allowing me to experiment in the kitchen from a very young age.
You know you're on the right path to your desired dream job, next step or activity when you feel that rush of excitement when you think about it. Or on the flip side (feeling stuck), Mondayitis creeps in everyday bringing with it no energy, maybe some brain fog, health issues and that overwhelming feeling of losing your mojo. Feeling stuck effects your wellbeing and can show up as stubborn weight issues plus many other bodily aches, pains and dis-eases.
