You’re planning changes and looking forward to new beginnings in the year ahead. You’re anticipating how you’ll feel when you’ve achieved your goal. Maybe it’s feeling fabulous in the dress that’s hanging in your wardrobe that’s too tight, having loads of energy and stamina to walk to amazing places on your next holiday, having the money to enjoy your trip of a lifetime and feeling like you’re on honeymoon again with your partner. There’s much written about New Year’s Resolutions and goals. But sometimes it's not that easy. We have a great goal, even detailed actions in place to help us achieve it, feel like we’ve “followed the rules” but then it doesn’t happen for us.
Think back to the time in your life when you felt your best; how were you feeling?
Were you a child feeling loved and loving life, were you starting a new job or career or were you head over heels in love? Then ask yourself:
The more primary food we give ourselves, the less we depend on secondary food. In reverse, the more we fill ourselves with secondary food, the less space we leave for primary food – our true source of nourishment. When we get out of balance, it really can be a struggle to achieve our goals.
So back to the dress that’s hanging in your wardrobe, next time you open the fridge door and reach for food, stop and ask yourself: Am I really Hungry? Or am I Lonely? Bored? Tired? Angry? Thirsty? What’s really going on for me?
